Stora Mörke

The road on the picture is called
"Mariestadsvägen". To the right you
can see "Stora Mörke" and to the
left a glimpse of "Lilla Mörke" and
the home of my childhood.
In the background you will find the
big house from which the pictures
on the opposite page is taken. In
that building it use to be an office
for a regiment, nowadays it is an
office for Skövde University.

The home of my childhood..

In this house lived eight families. The flats
were all small, two-roomed and old-
fashioned. With wood stoves and tiled
stoves. To every flat was a woodshed,
which we children often used as a playhut
during rainy days.
People who lived in this house and in
the neighbourhoods not belonged to the
upper class but we all lived a good life
all the same. We were never freezing,
never starving. Our playmates were
always welcome to visit our family.
Mum never complained.
